STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team halted its four-game losing streak on Saturday night with a 71-63 win over Iowa State in front of 3,068 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The Cowgirls (14-11 overall, 6-10 Big 12) held an 18-15 lead at the 10-minute mark of the first half before the Cyclones (17-10, 8-8) used a 7-0 run to jump in front and followed with 14-4 spurt to push the lead into double figures at 36-25. However, OSU answered quickly with the game's next 10 points to get back within one.
Trailing by four entering the second half, the Cowgirls saw the deficit grow to seven before using a 15-0 run, holding the Cyclones scoreless for nearly six and a half minutes. The run put the Cowgirls in front 56-47 with 10 minutes to go.
After Iowa State cut the margin to two with three minutes left, OSU freshman Liz Donohoe scored back-to-back buckets to halt the rally. Donohoe matched her career high with 27 points and was one of four OSU players to score in double figures.
Sophomore Tiffany Bias added 17 points, while junior Lindsey Keller scored 12 and sophomore Kendra Suttles chipped in with 11 points.
Chelsea Poppens paced the Cyclones with 19 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. OSU will be back in action on Feb. 29 when it travels to Lawrence, Kan., to take on Kansas.
