KOHALA COAST, Hawaii - Oklahoma State's men's golf team carded a 299 on Wednesday during the first round of the Mauna Lani Invitational at the Mauna Lani North Course to stand in eighth place.
The Cowboys' 11-over total was two shots behind Stanford and Texas for sixth place at the par-72, 6,913-yard layout. UCLA grabbed the first-round lead with an even-par 288.
Three players shared the individual lead after 18 holes as Texas Tech's Nils Floren, Texas' Bobby Hudson and UCLA's Alex Kim all fired 2-under 70s.
Junior Kevin Tway paced the Cowboys with an even-par 72 to stand in a tie for seventh.
Senior Trent Whitekiller finished the day tied for 20th with a 74, while sophomore Morgan Hoffmann's 76 put him in a tie for 42nd place.
Redshirt freshman Sean Einhaus posted a 77 to stand in a tie for 50th.
Sophomore Peter Uihlein carded an 80 and is tied for 87th place.
OSU will begin its second round at 7:30 a.m. (HST) on Thursday and will be grouped with Georgia Tech, Sonoma State and Stanford.
