RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - Oklahoma State's men's golf team fired a 275 during its first round at the Puerto Rico Classic on Sunday to stand in first place at Rio Mar Country Club's River Course.
The top-ranked Cowboys' 13-under score put them two shots clear of Texas' 277. Clemson finished Round One in third place at 281.
OSU junior Kevin Tway blistered the par-72, 6,902-yard layout with a 65 to take the individual lead. After going out in 33, the Edmond, Okla., closed with a 32 on his inward nine to record his career-low round.
Tway leads the field by two shots heading into Monday's second round.
Three Cowboys joined Tway under par for the day as sophomores Morgan Hoffmann and Peter Uihlein were joined by redshirt freshman Sean Einhaus at 2-under 70. The trio was among 14 players that finished the day tied for 14th place.
Senior Trent Whitekiller rounded out the lineup with a 74, which placed him in a tie for 47th place.
