Cowgirl Netters Pick Up Bedlam Win in Norman

NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma State women's tennis team knocked off in-state rival Oklahoma, 6-3, today at the Westwood Tennis Courts.
The Cowgirls, 9-3 overall and 2-3 in Big 12 action, were bolstered by their doubles play, sweeping the Sooners (7-8, 0-4) in all three matches.
"It was a tough match for us and I am very pleased with the way we finished. We got off to a slow start, but we finished really strong," Cowgirl head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski said.
OSU's Dominika Olszewska lost a tough three-set contest at the No. 1 position before Maria Galoustova, Linda Faltynkova and Ashleigh Dolman reeled off consecutive wins for the Cowgirls. Faltynkova's win at the No. 3 slot moved her record to 11-1 on the season and was her 10th consecutive victory.
"Linda has just been unbelievable. She has been playing tremendously all spring for us," Lubicz-Majewski said.
Despite the three wins, the Sooners came charging back with wins at Nos. 5 and 6 to tie the match heading into doubles play.
The Cowgirls were led in doubles by the nationally-ranked tandem of Galoustova and Dolman, who picked up a hard-fought win at No. 1 to even their record at 7-7 on the year.
OSU will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Wichita, Kansas to take on Wichita State at 3 p.m.
