Nijkamp Falls in Battle in the Bay Final

STILLWATER – Rose Marie Nijkamp of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team captured a runner-up finish in the singles draw of the Battle in the Bay on Sunday in San Francisco, California.
After four wins in three days to reach the final, Nijkamp fell to top-seeded No. 37 Anastasiia Grechkina from Pepperdine, 0-6, 3-6, to conclude her weekend in California.
The sophomore handled her first two opponents, before defeating Alexia Harmon of Pepperdine, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2, in the quarterfinals. She bested teammate Lucia Peyre, 6-3, 6-4, to advance to Sunday's final.
The Cowgirls head to Cary, North Carolina next weekend for the ITA All-American Championships in hopes of securing bids to the NCAA Individual Championships.
