September 12, 2023 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – Many former Cowboys kicked off their professional season in the opening weekend of the National Football League; here's some of the highlights from the Cowboys in the NFL:
Following an impressive rookie season for Malcom Rodriguez, he helped his Detroit Lions take down the reigning Super Bowl Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, 21-20 on the road in the opening game of the 2023 season.
In the first game of Sunday's slate, Tre Flowers played a crucial role in leading his Atlanta Falcons to a week one victory over the Carolina Panthers, 24-10. Flowers had the fourth-most tackles on the team, with eight total tackles and four solo stops.
On the other side of the ball, Chuba Hubbard kicked off his third NFL season with the Carolina Panthers in impressive fashion, notching 60 yards on nine carries. Hubbard also tacked on two receptions for nine yards in the 24-10 loss to the Falcons.
Moving to Baltimore, former Cowboy running back Justice Hill and the Ravens handled business against the Houston Texans, improving to 1-0 with a comfortable win, 25-9. Hill drove in a pair of touchdowns, each from near the goal line, as he finished with nine yards on eight attempts and set a new career-high in touchdowns.
Rounding out week one of the NFL season, Tyreek Hill reminded everyone why he's a four-time First Team All-Pro athlete with a dazzling performance against the Los Angeles Chargers. Hill finished with 215 yards on 11 receptions and tallied a pair of touchdowns, including the game-winning score with 1:45 left in the 4th quarter.
With his impressive showing against the Chargers, Hill broke the NFL record for most games with 200-plus yards and multiple TDs, ending a nine-way tie as he notched his third career game with such statistics.
