Cowboy Tennis Stuns No. 21 Middle Tennessee in a Down-to-the-Wire Thriller

Murfreesboro, Tenn. – Three Cowboys defeated ranked opponents en route to a 4-3 Oklahoma State comeback victory against No. 21 Middle Tennessee on Friday in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

With the win, the Cowboys knocked off their first ranked opponent this season and improve to 7-2

In doubles play, Tyler Zink and Isaac Becroft defeated No. 23 Oskar Brostrom Poulsen and Francisco Rocha on the featured court, 6-4. Alex Garcia and Chase Ferguson fell to Pavel Motl and Stijn Slump, 4-6.

The deciding doubles point came down to court three. After being tied 6-6, Leighton Allen and Francisco Pini dropped a tough match, 7-6, giving Middle Tennessee a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

In singles action, Middle Tennessee's Ondrej Horak defeated Alex Garcia, 6-2, 6-4, for the first singles finish of the evening.

Pini put OSU on the board defeating Marcel Kamrowski, 6-4, 6-4. Zink followed with a finish on court one, dropping No. 122 Francisco Rocha, 7-6, 6-0.

The Blue Raiders re-took the lead when Pavel Motl knocked off Alessio Basile, 7-6, 6-4.

Down 3-2, the last two matches went into the third set, with the Cowboys needing both to secure a victory.

With both remaining matches tied at 3-3 in the third set, Ferguson and Becroft jumped in front, with a slight 4-3 advantage. Becroft rallied to win the third set, defeating No. 91 Brostrom Poulsen.

After being tied 5-5 in the third set, Ferguson won the last two remaining points, beating No. 80 Slump, completing the OSU comeback.

Oklahoma State returns to action Sunday, where it faces Vanderbilt at 11 a.m. (CST).
