Cowgirl Soccer Completes Road Trip With Another Win
September 11, 2022 | Cowgirl Soccer
CONWAY, Ark. – Oklahoma State capped its weekend with a 3-0 victory over Central Arkansas Sunday afternoon at the Bill Stephens Complex.
Grace Yochum and Xcaret Pineda tallied goals for the Cowgirls as they improved to 5-1-1 on the season; UCA fell to 2-4-1.
OSU racked up 39 shots against the Bears, the fourth most in a game in program history; nineteen of those shots were on goal as UCA goalies Keyla Perez and Kajsa Pruner combined for 16 saves.
The Cowgirls got on the board early as Ally Jackson and Yochum connected for a score in the ninth minute. On a free kick from just inside midfield, Jackson delivered a ball deep into the box that Yochum headed to the near post for her fourth goal of the season.
OSU doubled its lead in the 24th minute as Pineda connected for her first collegiate goal, collecting a loose ball near the top of the six-yard box and drilling a low shot to the far post.
Early in the second half, OSU nearly took a three-goal advantage. After a handball in the box, Dowell stepped up for the penalty kick, but her shot was saved. A rebound attempt by Yochum was also saved before a third shot, this one also by Dowell, was blocked.
The Cowgirls would get that third goal in the 62nd minute, however. Awarded another penalty kick after Pruner committed a foul, OSU converted this time as Yochum found the back of the net for the second time in the match.
After five-straight road contests, the Cowgirls will return home for a pair of matches this week at Neal Patterson Stadium as they host Mercer Thursday before a Sunday showdown against nationally ranked Brown.
