OSU's Most Impressive Streak: 13 Straight Wins
May 13, 2022 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER, Okla. – Okstate.com is looking back this summer at some of the most impressive streaks in the history of Cowboy football. First up is the 13-game winning streak from the end of the 1944 season through the beginning of the 1946 season, which marked the longest winning streak in the history of the school.
The first win in the streak was a 13-8 road victory over Texas in Austin on November 11, 1944, and that was followed by a 28-6 win over Oklahoma in Oklahoma City on November 25. Those wins gave the Oklahoma A&M Aggies plenty of momentum and send them to the first bowl game in school history, which ended up being a 34-0 win over TCU at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

The streak continued into what became the first national championship season in school history, as the Aggies went 9-0 in 1945 behind the play of all-time great Bob Fenimore and Neill Armstrong.
A 40-7 win over Denver in the first game of the 1946 season brought the streak to 13, and it nearly kept going but it came to an end the following week with a 21-21 tie against Arkansas.
As impressive as the streak was, it was very nearly even longer than that, as the Aggies went 8-1 in 1944 with their only loss coming against a naval base team called the Norman Navy Zoomers that was made up of former college and professional players.
Without that game on the schedule and with the final two wins of the 1943 season, the streak would have reached 20 games.
Regardless, the 13-game win streak was the second-longest in the country when it came to an end and it remains the longest winning streak in school history.
