OSU Outdoor Track & Field Wraps Tri-Meet Weekend with Number of Impressive Performances
Â
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State outdoor track & field wrapped up its second consecutive tri-meet weekend on Saturday with several impressive performances at a pair of meets in Gainesville, Fla., and Norman, Okla.
Â
At the Sooner Invitational in Norman, Bailey Golden kicked off the day by setting a new personal record in the Heptathlon, scoring 5,525 points overall. Golden's score puts her second on OSU's all-time list behind teammate Olivija Vaitaityte, who broke the record last weekend at the Jim Click Invitational.
Â
The Cowboy and Cowgirl throwers also had an impressive weekend, with Hannah Bradford and Sam Mason setting a combined four personal records in the Hammer and Discus Throws. Bradford threw 53.56 meters in the Hammer Throw and 51.76 meters in the Discus, which moves her up to 7th and 4th on the program's all-time lists, respectively.
Â
Mason set a massive PR in the Hammer, besting his previous record by over four meters on Friday. He also set a new personal mark in the Discus on Saturday, throwing 53.11 meters and moving himself into 9th in program history in the Discus.
Â
In the men's 3,000 Meter Steeplechase, Victor Shitsama and Will Muirhead dominated the field from wire-to-wire, finishing first and second with a margin of 18 seconds over the rest of the field. Their times of 9:09.78 and 9:19.53 are currently ranked third and eighth in the Big 12, respectively.
Â
At the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Christina Ollison, Nickie Dixon and Tamara Woodley ran in the women's 400 Meter Dash, with each finishing within a half-second of each other with times of 54.06, 54.21 and 54.41, respectively. Ollison's time was the fastest 400 Meter time by a Cowgirl this season thus far.
Â
In the men's 400 Meters, Charlie Bartholomew finished just .01 seconds off his personal best with a time of 46.73. Immediately following Bartholomew was DJ McArthur, who set a new personal record in the event with a time of 47.30 seconds.
Â
Both the men's and women's 4x400 squads were back in action as well after each set new school records in the event earlier this season. The women's crew of Woodley, Ollison, Kalaya Ali and Dixon finished just a second off their school record with a time of 3:34.80. The men's team of Bartholomew, McArthur, EJ Berry and Cash Merutka also finished one second behind their record with a time of 3:06.65, which gave them a 9th-place finish amongst collegiate teams.
Â
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will be back in action next weekend as they travel back to Norman for the John Jacobs Invitational and to Waco, Texas, for the Michael Johnson Classic.
