Saturday's game marks the first-ever meeting between the two schools, but a win would improve OSU to 6-0 all-time against teams from the Southland Conference.
A win against McNeese would move OSU's all-time record in home openers to 85-28-5 and maintain Gundy's unblemished home-opening record, giving him 15 wins without a defeat. Speaking of winning streaks, a win over McNeese Saturday would mark OSU's 24th consecutive in a home opener, adding to the longest streak in school history.
A victory would move OSU to 27-10 in its past 37 games overall and 41-15 in its last 56 contests. Coach Mike Gundy looks to improve to 51-11 all-time against non-conference opponents. To date, Gundy is perfect against FCS teams with 12 wins.
OSU seeks its 12th-straight win against teams outside of the Big 12, which matches the second-longest streak in program history. In the most recent 39 bouts with programs outside the conference, the Pokes have taken 34 victories.
Since 2010, Oklahoma State has notched 64 wins in 76 contests against unranked opponents.
A win over McNeese would improve OSU to 41-12 overall in all games since the start of the 2011 season. A victory would improve the Cowboys to 2-0 for the third season in a row and the 10th time in the Mike Gundy era.
