Cowgirls Fall To Tulsa In Tulsa
April 19, 2017 | Cowgirl Softball
TULSA, Okla. ---- Oklahoma State softball dropped the series finale to Tulsa Wednesday with a 3-0 loss to the Golden Hurricane at the Collins Family Softball Complex.
Â
The Cowgirls allowed just five hits but Tulsa scored all three runs in the bottom of the third with three hits on its way to the victory.
Â
"The first time since we saw Emily Watson a couple weeks back we were completely overmatched," head coach Kenny Gajewski said. "We took a little better approach today. We hit a couple balls hard. Just couldn't push any runs across. When she doesn't walk anyone it's tough. Credit her, it's why she's where she's at. She's an All-American kid. Just have to give credit where credit is due.
Â
Oklahoma State (29-17) ran into one of the best pitchers in the nation in Emily Watson. Watson came into the game with a 20-3 record with a 1.17 ERA and 244 strikeouts.
Â
The Cowgirls managed two hits through five innings with Alex Edinger and Taylor Lynch both reaching with singles. Madi Sue Montgomery accounted for the other Cowgirl hit with a one-out single to right in the top of the seventh.Â
Â
The pitching trio of Shea Coats, Brandi Needham and Whitney Whitehorn allowed just two hits the final 18 outs for the Golden Hurricane.
Â
Coats (5-7) took the loss in the circle for the Cowgirls. She went three innings and allowed three runs on four hits. She had one strikeout.

Up Next: The Cowgirls return to action this weekend for a three-game series against Texas Tech on the Fox Sports family of networks starting Friday at 6:30 p.m. Fans can listen on 105.5 FM in Stillwater while live stats will be on okstate.com. In-game updates will be on Twitter (@CowgirlSB).Â
