AMES, Iowa ---- Oklahoma State softball's eight-game Big 12 winning streak was snapped Saturday in a 10-9 loss to Iowa State at the Cyclone Sports Complex. The Cowgirls earned their third-straight conference series win yesterday with a doubleheader sweep over the Cyclones.

The Cowgirls scored five runs in the top of the sixth to take a 9-7 lead. Iowa State responded with two in the bottom of the sixth and one in the seventh on a stolen base at home to seal its first conference victory of 2017.

"The message I talked to the team about was in any win or loss you've got to learn," head coach Kenny Gajewski said. "You've got to gain knowledge. You've got to gain experience. This will help us down the road in big tight games. But it hurts. We just didn't play clean."

Oklahoma State (28-16 Overall, 8-1 Big 12) got off to another quick start in the top of the first with two runs courtesy of a pair of cyclone errors. Iowa State responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning to make it 2-1 Cowgirls after one.

Iowa State tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the second before Vanessa Shippy gave the Cowgirls a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth with a sacrifice fly to center.

Randee O'Donnell continued the scoring ways in the top of the fifth with a triple to left that scored Madi Sue Montgomery and gave OSU a 4-2 lead. Iowa State took all the momentum in the bottom half of the inning with five runs to take a 7-4 lead.

The Cowgirls mounted a valiant comeback effort with five runs in the top of the sixth courtesy Jessi Haffner, Montgomery, Galvan and Taylor Lynch RBIs to tie the game at 9-9.

The Cyclones eventually won the game in the bottom of the seventh with a walk-off stolen base of home.

Montgomery and O'Donnell led the way at the plate for the Cowgirls. Montgomery was 4-for-5 with an RBI, while O'Donnell finished 3-for-5. Lynch finished with a team-high two RBIs on a 1-for-4 effort.

Logan Simunek (5-3) took the loss in the circle for the Cowgirls. She went 1.1 innings and allowed two runs on four hits.
