Seven Reasons Why OSU's Win Over Virginia Tech Mattered

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Oklahoma State football team wrapped up its season Thursday with a 30-21 win over Virginia Tech in the 2017 Camping World Bowl. OSU improved to 10-3 on the year with the win, while quarterback Mason Rudolph set an OSU single season record for passing yards and receiver James Washington became OSU's all-time leader in career receiving yards. Following the win, OSU…
• Has three-straight 10-win seasons to mark the longest streak in school history. Only OSU, Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, San Diego State and Wisconsin can claim 10-wins in each of the past three seasons.
• Has six 10-win seasons under Mike Gundy, all since 2010.
• Is 18-4 in its last 22 games overall.
• Is 2-1 all-time vs. Virginia Tech.
• Is 18-10 all-time in bowl games, ranking among the top five bowl winning percentages among teams with at least 20 appearances.
• Is 6-7 all-time against current members of the ACC.

-Finished with 351 passing yards to bring his season total to 4,904 to set a single-season school record. The old mark of 4,727 was set by Brandon Weeden in 2011. Rudolph leads the nation in passing yards this season.
-It marked the 23rd 300-yard game of his career, a school record.
-Entered the game leading the nation in points responsible for per game and added two touchdown passes.
-Became the first player in OSU history to have more than 1,000 career passing yards in bowl games. He wraps up his career with 1,143 bowl passing yards.
-Finished 21-for-32 passing with no interceptions.
-Passer rating of 178.4.
James Washington | Wide Receiver | Senior | Stamford, Texas
-Finished with 126 receiving yards to bring his career total to 4,472, establishing a new OSU record and breaking the previous mark of 4,414 set by Rashaun Woods from 2000-03. It is second in Big 12 history.
-Finished the season with 1,549 receiving yards, ranking as the third highest in OSU history.
-Tallied his 21st career game with at least 100 receiving yards, breaking Rashaun Woods' school record of 20.
-Extended his streak to 45 straight games with at least one catche – the second longest active streak in the nation.
Defense
Tre Flowers | Safety | R-Senior | Converse, Texas
-Finished with 12 total tackles to lead all players in the game and mark the second-highest total in a game in his career.
-Had 10 solo stops.
-Wrapped up his career with 279 tackles, marking the third-most among active players this year in the Big 12 and the most on the OSU defense.
Special Teams
Matt Ammendola | Kicker | R-Sophomore | Lansdale, Pennsylvania
-Was 3-for-3 on field goal attempts, hitting from 38, 36 and 31 yards.
-Scored a game-high 12 points, improving his Big 12 lead and FBS top-five rank for points scored this season.
-Finished 3-for-3 on PAT attempts.
-Kicked off seven times with Virginia Tech starting at its own 25 or inside of it on four of those kicks.
-Improved his streak of made field goal attempts to 11 and has made 13 of his last 14.
