Inside the Helmet: Mason Rudolph
September 23, 2015 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER - Inside the Helmet is a Q&A series that gets to know Cowboy football players away from the field. This edition features sophomore quarterback Mason Rudolph.
Is there any significance to your jersey number?
"I wore it in high school, but that's about the only significance. Somebody left, so the number was available this year and the equipment staff asked if I wanted to change it, so I did."
Â
Who is the best player you ever faced?
"Well, I've only played a few games here, so I would say Jadaveon Clowney. I didn't face him personally, but my high school played his when I was a freshman and he was a senior. He's obviously a freak, and he ended up being the No. 1 draft pick, so that was pretty cool. As far as in college, just being on the sidelines against Jameis Winston was pretty cool."
Â
What is your favorite football movie?
"Remember the Titans."
Â
What is one word to describe Mike Gundy?
"There are a lot. He's fun, cool and energetic. He's just a fun guy."
Â
Which of your teammates is most likely to end up on SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays?
"Brandon Sheperd. He's got great ability and a tremendous set of hands on him. He's just a playmaker."
Â
What actor would you pick to play you in a movie, and why?
"I would pick Matt Damon. I'm a big fan of his movies, especially the Bourne trilogy."
Â
Who is your celebrity crush?
"I would say Megan Fox. It's always got to be Megan Fox."
Â
What is the one talent you'd most like to have?
"To be able to play the piano. I played it when I was younger, but I kind of gave up on it because it took too much time away from sports. Now, I just wish that I could play it. It would be cool."
Â
If you had to be stranded on a desert island for one month, which one of your teammates would you want to bring with you, and why?
"It'd have to be J.W. Walsh, because I feel like he would be good with nature and he could probably find a way for us to get off the island."
Â
Why did you choose OSU?
"I chose it because of the offense. That was the biggest thing. I thought it would have been a great transition from high school to college with the playmakers that they had, and Coach Gundy and Coach Yurcich both played a big role in that. The relationship that I had with Coach Yurcich had a big pull."
