Former Cowboy Nedovyesov Wins Big in Kazakhstan

ASTANA, Kazakhstan - Former Oklahoma State tennis standout Oleksandr Nedovyesov put up a huge comeback win in a singles match against Italian Fabio Fognini to advance the Kazakh team to the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup.
Nedovyesov had a slow start, trailing 2-1 after three sets to Fognini, who is ranked No. 22 in the world.
The former Cowboy, currently ranked No. 130 in the world, won the first set in a tiebreaker, before dropping sets two and three.
His comeback started with a fourth-set win, which pushed the match to a fifth and final set. In the fifth set, he took a quick 2-0 lead, but a strong effort from Fognini eventually brought the set to a 4-4 tie. Nedovyesov was not shaken and went on to claim the 3-2 victory.
Kazakhstan will face Australia in the quarterfinals in July.
Nedovyesov was named ITA National Player of the Year, Big 12 Player of the Year and also earned a No. 1 singles ranking, among several other impressive accolades, during his time at Oklahoma State.
