Cowboy Football Signs Two Mid-Year Enrollees

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State football added a pair of players from the junior college ranks during Wednesday's signing period, including NJCAA first team All-American offensive lineman Larry Williams from Hutchinson Community College and cornerback Malik Kearse from Fort Scott Community College.
Williams and Kearse plan on beginning classes at OSU next month and participating in spring practice with the Cowboys.
Williams is a 6-5 offensive lineman with experience at the FBS level at East Carolina before playing at Hutchinson, while Kearse has impressed for two years at the junior college level, recording 15 pass breakups during his time at Fort Scott.

Ranked as a three-star prospect by 247sports.com and Scout.com … Topped the chart in both height and weight for Hutchinson last year … Possesses great strength and has put up impressive numbers in the weight room.
2015 (at HCC): Started all 11 games for coach Rion Rhoades at Hutchinson Community College, playing at left tackle and on special teams … A first team selection on the NJCAA All-America team, becoming the first Blue Dragon offensive lineman to earn All-America honors since 1998 … The fourth HCC offensive lineman in team history to earn first-team All-America honors … First team selection to the 2015 KJCCC All-Conference team … Helped the Blue Dragons lead the Jayhawk Conference and rank eighth nationally in rushing at 244.8 yards per game … Hutchinson running backs rushed for 32 touchdowns behind him and the rest of the offensive line.
2014 (at ECU): Saw action in all 13 games, primarily on special teams … Played on several units, mostly in a blocking role … Tallied a pair of tackles on the coverage squad during the season opener against N.C. Central.
2013 (at ECU): Redshirt. Played on the offensive scout team.
High School: Totaled 56 tackles, including 33 solo stops, one sack and two fumble recoveries as a senior team captain for head coach Greg Ditz at Laney High School ... Helped the Buccaneers to a 5-5 regular season record and an appearance in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4AA playoffs ... A three-star recruit and a top 50 North Carolina prospect according to ESPN.com ... A two-time Wilmington Star News All-Area first team selection as an offensive lineman ... Also earned first team All-Mideastern Conference honors as a junior in 2011 after contributing to LHS's 8-4 record and second-round playoff appearance ... Victory against Wakefield in the opening round was the school's first post-season win since 2001 ... Finished his junior campaign with 32 stops (28 solo, six tackles for loss) and graded out at 88 percent for play on the offensive line ... Junior College: Played for coach Curtis Horton at Fort Scott Community College … Played cornerback in all 10 games both as a freshman and as a sophomore … Totaled 66 tackles, three tackles for loss, 15 pass breakups and two interceptions in two years at Fort Scott … As a sophomore, recorded 29 tackles, one tackle for loss and ranked second on the team in pass breakups with seven … Tallied 37 tackles as a freshman, as well as two tackles for loss, two interceptions and a team-best eight breakups as a freshman … An honorable mention at cornerback on the 2014 KJCCC All-Conference team.
High School: Played for coach Mario Smith at Monsignor Edward Pace High School … Totaled six interceptions and 30 pass breakups in high school despite missing part of his career due to injury … Impressed with his speed and toughness … Continued his career through trying out for Fort Scott and making the team … Also competed in track and field.
Personal: Malik Jordan Kearse was born June 12, 1996, in Aventura, Fla. … Son of Henry Kearse and Malikah Jones … Plans to study criminal justice.
