In the Polls
Unranked to start the season, Oklahoma State has climbed to No. 5 in both the Associated Press and Amway Coaches polls. Iowa State is unranked in both polls. The Cowboys have achieved a top 15 national ranking by the AP in seven of the last eight seasons and a top 10 AP ranking in six of the last eight seasons. Since 2008, OSU has been ranked in the AP poll in 73 of its last 98 games.
Oklahoma State from a Distance
At 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the Big 12, Oklahoma State controls its own destiny in both the race for a Big 12 championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff. At the center of the Cowboys' success this year is resilience. The Cowboys have erased deficits of 17 points and 15 points to win games this season and three times won despite the fact that they did not have the lead with one minute remaining.
Offensively, OSU is seventh in the nation by averaging 44.6 points per game and also ranks in the top 10 nationally in passing offense and red zone offense. The Cowboys employ a unique two-quarterback system in which both Mason Rudolph and J.W. Walsh have thrived. The best illustration of that has come in OSU's last two games. Two weeks ago at Texas Tech, Walsh accounted for three touchdowns and amassed 247 yards of total offense on just 13 plays and last week against TCU, Rudolph earned National Player of the Week honors from the Walter Camp Foundation after passing for 352 yards and five touchdowns against no interceptions.
Defensively, the Cowboys have attacked opposing offenses by using their team speed and aggressiveness to disrupt opponents' timing. Case in point - Oklahoma State ranks third nationally in sacks, sixth nationally in tackles for loss and fourth nationally in turnovers gained. Leading the way is an All-America candidate at defensive end in Emmanuel Ogbah. The favorite for Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors, Ogbah leads the Big 12 in both sacks and tackles for loss. Other All-Big 12 candidates include cornerback Kevin Peterson and safety Jordan Sterns.
An Oklahoma State Win Would...
• Improve the Cowboys to 10-0, marking just the second time in school history that the Cowboys were undefeated after 10 games. The previous occasion came in 2011, when the Cowboys finished 12-1, won the Big 12 championship and missed out on a spot in the BCS national championship game by just 0.0086 of a point in the BCS computer system. The Cowboys of 2011 went on to beat Andrew Luck and No. 4 Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl.
• Mark the fourth time during the Mike Gundy era (2005-present) that the Cowboys have won at least 10 games in a season. Entering the game at Iowa State, the Cowboys have six 10-win seasons in their history. Gundy was head coach for three (2010, 2011 and 2013) and was the starting quarterback for two (1987, 1988).
• Be the Cowboys' 12th consecutive win, dating back to last season, establishing the second-longest win streak in school history. OSU rattled off 13 straight wins from 1944-46 for the school record.
• Be the Cowboys' sixth in their last seven meetings with Iowa State and their second in their last three trips to Jack Trice Stadium.
• Improve the Cowboys to 5-0 on the road this year and 11-4 in their last 15 road games, dating back to the start of the 2013 season.
• Extend OSU's road win streak to six games. Six straight road wins would trail only the 11-game road win streak that OSU put together from 1943-45 and the 10-game road win streak compiled from Oct. 8, 2010 through Nov. 18, 2011.

Oklahoma State vs. Unranked Opponents
Since the start of the 2010 season, Oklahoma State is 45-5 against teams not ranked in the Associated Press Top 25. The Cowboys have won 30 of their last 31 home games over unranked opponents. The only unranked team to beat OSU in Boone Pickens Stadium since 2010 was Texas last season.
Starting with the Cowboys' 2012 Heart of Dallas Bowl win over Purdue, OSU has won 21 of its last 23 overall against unranked opponents.
Dating back to a 2013 win over Kansas State, the Cowboys have won their last 13 games when playing as a ranked team facing an unranked opponent.
Oklahoma State's Last Five Road Games
Oklahoma State has won each of its last five road games and all five of those wins have something in common - the Cowboys didn't lead at some point in the second half, but still found a way to win.
