Â
The Cowboys employ a unique two-quarterback system with Mason Rudolph and J.W. Walsh that has been successful, as OSU ranks in the top 15 nationally in scoring offense, total offense, passing offense and red zone offense. Rudolph ranks 12th nationally with 310.3 passing yards per game. Only Brandon Weeden averaged more for Oklahoma State. Walsh's stats border on absurd, but most important is that he's been on the field for only 58 plays of total offense this season, yet has been directly responsible for 96 points. According to ESPN, his adjusted QBR through eight games is 97.4.
Defensively, the Cowboys have been very effective at disrupting timing, thanks largely to a fierce pass rush headlined by Emmanuel Ogbah and Jimmy Bean and a steady dose of press man coverage on the perimeter from a cornerback group led by Thorpe Award semifinalist Kevin Peterson. An illustration of OSU's disruptive talents comes in the fact that the Cowboys lead the Big 12 in turnovers forced, sacks, tackles for loss, blocked punts and defensive touchdowns.
Â
• Mark the 17th time that the Cowboys have beaten an opponent ranked in the top 25 of the Associated Press poll since Mike Gundy took over as head coach in 2005.
• Improve the Cowboys to 9-0, marking just the third time in school history that the Cowboys were undefeated after nine games. The previous occasions came as part of the two most successful seasons in school history - 1945 and 2011. The 1945 squad finished 9-0 and won the Sugar Bowl and the 2011 squad finished 12-1, won the Big 12 championship and missed out on a spot in the BCS national championship game by just 0.0086 of a point in the BCS computer system. The Cowboys of 2011 went on to beat Andrew Luck and No. 4 Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl.
• Be the Cowboys' 11th consecutive win, dating back to last season, marking OSU's longest win streak since the Pokes rattled off 11 straight wins from Dec. 29, 2010 to Nov. 18, 2011. Eleven straight wins would match the second-longest winning streak in school history. The Pokes won 13 straight from 1944-46 and 11 straight from 2010-11.
• Improve the Cowboys to 5-0 at home this year and 43-9 in their last 52 games played in Boone Pickens Stadium, dating back to the start of the 2008 season.
• Be the Cowboys' fourth in their last five meetings with TCU and their third in four meetings over the Horned Frogs since TCU joined the Big 12 in 2012.
• Improve the Cowboys to 26-6 in their last 32 games played against teams from the state of Texas, dating back to 2009.
• Mark the seventh time in the last eight seasons that OSU has won at least five home games.
Â
• Oklahoma State hasn't lost to TCU in Stillwater since 1991. Since that time, the Cowboys scored home wins over the Horned Frogs in 1993, 2012 and 2013.
• Oklahoma State has knocked off 16 ranked opponents in 10-plus years under Mike Gundy (1.45 per year)
• Dating back to 2005, the Cowboys have won 23 consecutive games when not committing a turnover.
• Oklahoma State has won its last seven games and 10 of its last 11 when playing as a ranked opponent
• Dating back to the 2008 season, the Cowboys have won 43 of their last 45 games when winning the turnover battle.
• The Oklahoma State offense has scored touchdowns on 13 of its last 16 trips into the red zone.
• Oklahoma State has scored four non-offensive touchdowns in its last three games.
• Oklahoma State's defense has held five of its last seven opponents under 200 yards passing.
• Defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah has at least one sack in 13 of the last 16 games.
• Defensive end Jimmy Bean has started 34 consecutive games, which equates to starting every game since the start of the 2013 season.
• Quarterback J.W. Walsh has accounted for at least one touchdown in every game this season and has accounted for 10 touchdowns the last three games.
• J.W. Walsh has posted a pass efficiency rating above 200 in each of his last six games, including a season-best 492.56 rating last week at Texas Tech.
• Oklahoma State quarterbacks have completed passes to at least 10 different receivers six times in eight games this season.
Â
• Missouri entered the game averaging 53.4 points and 568.9 yards of total offense per game, but OSU's defense slowed the high-powered Tigers and the Cowboys' balanced offense made MU pay for exaggerating its defensive strategy to stop receiver Dez Bryant.
Â
Sept. 24, 2011 at No. 8 Texas A&MÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â W, 30-29
• Texas A&M held a 20-3 lead at half, but a furious rally from OSU fueled by tempo on offense and turnovers forced on defense paralyzed the Aggies in the second half. The Cowboys scored 27 unanswered points to start the second half.
Â
Jan. 2, 2012 vs. No. 4 Stanford  W, 41-38 (OT)
• Stanford dominated on the ground and dominated time of possession in the 2012 Fiesta Bowl, but it didn't matter, as six of OSU's seven scoring drives took less than two minutes off the clock.
Â
Nov. 23, 2013 No. 3 Baylor         W, 49-17
• Baylor entered the game averaging 61.2 points and 684.8 yards of offense per game, but the Cowboys buried the Bears by racing out to a 35-3 advantage through three quarters. OSU held Baylor 44 points and 231 yards below its season averages and the red zone stats were telling - Baylor was 1-for-4 with only a field goal, while OSU was 4-for-4, will all four scores being touchdowns.

In the Polls
Unranked to start the season, Oklahoma State has climbed to No. 12 in this week's Associated Press poll and No. 10 in this week's Amway Coaches poll. TCU is No. 5 by the AP and No. 5 by the coaches. The Cowboys have achieved a top 15 national ranking by the AP in seven of the last eight seasons. Since 2008, OSU has been ranked in the AP poll in 72 of its last 97 games.Â
Oklahoma State from a Distance
Resiliency has been a strong suit for Oklahoma State this season, evidenced by the fact that the Cowboys have erased a 17-point deficit to win at Texas Tech and a 15-point deficit to win against Kansas State. On three different occasions this season, OSU did not lead with a minute remaining, yet still found a way to win (at Texas, vs. Kansas State and at West Virginia). An illustration of OSU's disruptive talents comes in the fact that the Cowboys lead the Big 12 in turnovers forced, sacks, tackles for loss, blocked punts and defensive touchdowns.
