ATLANTA - Oklahoma State's Tiffany Bias was one of seven players named to the All-Region 5 squad it was announced today by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. A selection committee will choose its 10-member WBCA Division I Coaches' All-America Team from the 52 all-region selections.
Bias' selection marks the second consecutive year Oklahoma State has produced an all-region performer with Toni Young earning the distinction a year ago. Overall, the Cowgirls have had 13 all-region honorees.
A senior from Andover, Kan., Bias has guided OSU to a 25-8 mark and the program's third NCAA Sweet 16 appearance. She ranks 10th among Big 12 players in scoring with her 13.8 points per game and is second among league players at 6.1 assists per game and 2.2 steals per contest. Bias also leads the conference in minutes played at 36.5 per contest.
The selection committee uses an equation to determine a fair number of nominees from each region. The number of Division I institutions in each region is divided by the number of Division I institutions overall to determine a percentage for each region. This percentage is then multiplied by 52 (the total number of desired finalists) to get the number of finalists for each region.
The 2014 WBCA Division I Coaches' All-America Team will be announced at 1:10 p.m. CT Saturday April 5, during NCAA® Women's Final Four® Super Saturday festivities in Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.
