HOUSTON - Due to lightning in the area, Oklahoma State's game against Rice Friday at Rice Soccer Stadium was cancelled.
The two teams completed the first half of the match and were tied 2-2, and early in the second half, OSU took a 3-2 advantage. But with 38:38 remaining, the teams were ordered off the field due to weather concerns.
Following a 94-minute delay, the game was resumed and Rice tied the score. But shortly afterwards, lightning hit again, and the game was cancelled in the 59th minute. NCAA rules dictate that a match must complete at least 70 minutes to officially count.
OSU returns to action Sunday at North Texas. That match has been rescheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
