Cowboys Finish Third At Linger Longer

GREENSBORO, Ga. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team finished third at the rain-shortened Linger Longer Invitational on Sunday at Great Waters at Reynolds Plantation.
The event was scheduled for 54 holes, but was shortened to 36 after delays both Saturday and Sunday at the par-72, 7,073-yard layout.
The Cowboys opened with a 289 to stand in second place and saw their second round halted on Saturday just past the halfway point. OSU began play Sunday tied with Kennesaw State at even par and 13 shots off the pace of Alabama. However, the Cowboys closed with an even-par 288 to come in with a 1-over 577. Kennesaw State's 285 during its second round gave it a 576 score.
Alabama cruised to a 16-shot victory, finishing at 560, 16-under.
Alabama's Cory Whitsett won the event by a stroke after carding rounds of 67 and 70 for a 137 total.
Freshman Jordan Niebrugge opened with a 72 before using a 3-under 69 during his second round to finish tied for fifth at 141. The finish was the third top 10 in the last four starts for Niebrugge.
Junior Talor Gooch followed an opening 73 with a 70 to finish at even-par 143 and tied for 10th place.
Sophomore Patrick Winther signed for a 71 during his first round before posting a75 to finish tied for 23rd place at 146.
Junior Ian Davis tied for 28th place at 147 after logging rounds of 73 and 74.
Senior Sean Einhaus posted rounds of 81 and 77 for a 158 total to tie for 72nd place.
Competing individually, junior Kevin Dougherty finished at 141 and tied for fifth after firing rounds of 68 and 73.
The Cowboys will return to action on April 6 at the Aggie Invitational in Bryan, Texas.
