Cowgirls In Ninth At Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate

NEW ORLEANS - Oklahoma State's women's golf team posted a 294 during its first round at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate on Sunday at English Turn Golf and Country Club.
The Cowgirls 6-over score knotted them with Texas for ninth place at the par-72, 6,105-yard layout. Tulane fired a 282 to hold the lead in the team race by a shot over Duke and also had the individual leader in Emily Penttila. She logged an opening 67 to lead by one over a pair of players.
Senior Kelsey Vines and junior Josephine Janson paced the OSU starting five, finishing tied for 20th with matching 72s.
Junior Jayde Panos opened play with a 74 to stand in a tie for 41st place, while freshman Julie Yang's 76 tied her for 63rd place.
Freshman Megan Blonien carded a 79 during her first collegiate round to finish in 84th place.
OSU will begin its second round tomorrow at 9 a.m. (CST) and will be grouped with Purdue and Texas A&M.
