Marcus Smart, a signee for the Cowboy Basketball team, started for the West squad in the 35th annual McDonald's All-American game Wednesday night at the United Center in Chicago.
The No. 2 ranked shooting guard according to ESPNU, the National Player of the Year finalist scored just one point in the game, but contributed in some many other areas.
He dished out five assists in the game, but would have recorded three more had his teammates not missed on some rather complicated dunk attempts. He also grabbed six rebounds, all on the defensive end of the court.
The two-time Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Texas, Smart also recorded a steal and a blocked shot, along with three deflections defensively.
Smart's high-school teammate and fellow Cowboy signee, Phil Forte, will compete in the National High School 3-Point Championships at the Alario Center in New Orleans on Friday night. That event will be televised on a tape-delayed bases on Sunday, April 1, at 3:30 pm on CBS.
