Cowgirls Rise To Third In Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - Oklahoma State's women's golf team posted a 2-over 290 on Monday to move into a tie for third place at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic at Rio Mar Country Club.
Through 36 holes, the Cowgirls matched Arkansas with a 14-over 590 total at the par-72, 6,191-yard layout. The two teams will begin tomorrow's final round four shots behind LSU for second place and five strokes off the pace of Georgia for the top spot.
Georgia's Emilie Burger and Purdue's Laura Gonzalez share the individual lead through two rounds at 4-under 140.
Cowgirl junior Kelsey Vines followed an opening 71 with a 74 to move into seventh place at 1-over 145.
Amy Ruengmateekhun fired the squad's round of the day, bouncing back from an 80 during her first round with a 67 to move up 53 spots into a tie for 10th place at 147. The sophomore began her day at the eighth with a par before reeling off three birdies and an eagle over the next five holes to quickly move to 5-under par. With five consecutive pars, Ruengmateekhun played the back nine in 4-under 32. She carded another birdie at the par-3 third hole before closing her day with her lone bogey at the seventh.
Sophomore Jayde Panos shaved seven strokes off her opening round, posting a 72 to come in tied for 24th place at 151. Sophomore Josephine Janson also finished the day tied for 24th place after posting a 77 during her second round.
Junior Hillary Wood's 77 tied her for 33rd place at 153.
The Cowgirls will begin their final round tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. and will be grouped with Georgia LSU and Arkansas.
