Cowgirls Fourth In California

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team posted a 289 during its first round at the Stanford Intercollegiate on Friday to stand in a tie for fourth place at Stanford Golf Course.
The Cowgirls' 5-over score knotted them with Stanford at the par-71, 6,130-yard layout. The two teams will begin their second round just three shots out of the lead held by Southern California, which posted an opening 286.
OSU's Josephine Janson was one of three players to fire a 2-under 69. The trio stands one shot clear of the rest of the field. The Cowgirl junior countered four bogeys on the day with six birdies to get to her number.
One shot back was senior teammate Kelsey Vines, who finished the day tied for fourth place at 1-under 70.
Junior Jayde Panos finished in a tie for 34th place at 74, while sophomore Courtney Ferguson's 76 tied her for 52nd place.
Junior Amy Ruengmateekhun posted a 77 to come in tied for 60th.
The Cowgirls will begin their second round tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. (PST) and will be grouped with Arizona State and Stanford.
