Cowgirls In Second At McNamara Invite

OWASSO, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's golf team opened play on Monday at the Dale McNamara Invitational with a 294 at the Patriot Golf Club to stand in second place.
The Cowgirls' 6-over score was 14 shots off the pace of Arizona State at the par-72, 6,626-yard layout. OSU will begin its second round four shots clear of Middle Tennessee State and with three players in the top 10.
Through the first 18 holes, Arizona State holds the top three spots on the individual leaderboard as well. Giulia Molinaro fired a 5-under 67 to hold a three-shot lead over teammates Justine Lee and Daniela Ordonez, who each posted 2-under 70s.
Making her Cowgirl debut, junior Kelsey Vines was the only other player in the field to break par on the day, signing for a 1-under 71 to stand alone in fourth place. The BYU transfer opened with a birdie at the par-5 10th before adding another birdie at the par-5 15th. After making the turn at 1-under 35, Vines birdied the second hole before finishing at 1-under par for the day with a bogey at the ninth, her final hole of the day.
Senior Jocelyn Alford finished the day a stroke behind her teammate and tied for fifth place at even-par 72.
Sophomore Josephine Janson came in tied for eighth place after carding a 1-over 73, while sophomore Jayde Panos' 78 tied her for 42nd place.
Junior Hillary Wood turned in a 79 and came in tied for 49th place.
The Cowgirls will begin their second round tomorrow at 8:50 a.m. and will be grouped with Middle Tennessee State and Arizona State.
