Stillwater, Okla. -- Tamara Brown hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the second, and Oklahoma State's 16th-ranked softball team defeated No. 15 Oklahoma 2-1 here Wednesday night before a packed Cowgirl Stadium.

With one out in the second frame, Julie Ward beat out an infield single off Sooner starter Keilani Ricketts. Brown hit an 0-2 pitch down the right field line that barely cleared the fence inside the foul pole, giving Oklahoma State a 2-0 lead.

Cowgirl sophomore Kat Espinosa started in the circle and gave up just one hit in the first two innings. The Sooners loaded the bases in the third, but Espinosa forced Brittany Williams to fly out to end the threat.

Espinosa, who improved to 20-5 on the season, gave up a solo home run to Haley Nix with one out in the fifth, and was relieved by Sarah Odom. The senior hurler retired six consecutive batters before Destinee Martinez recorded a base hit off the pitcher's glove. Chana'e Jones grounded out to third, and Odom struck out Nix to end the game and pick up her second save of the season.

Ricketts (21-11) allowed just three hits while walking one and striking out 13 Cowgirl batters.

Oklahoma State improved to 37-11 overall this season and 8-4 in Big 12 Conference action. Oklahoma dropped to 34-15 overall, 7-7 in league play. The Cowgirls will host the 12th-ranked Missouri Tigers this weekend, with a game Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday's game starting at noon.
