STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team rallied late to win its lone exhibition contest of the 2011-12 season, posting a 55-51 win over Fort Hays State in front of 1,968 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The Cowgirls took an 11-point lead with just under 12 minutes remaining in the first half on a pair of free throws before the Tigers responded. FHSU trimmed the lead back to four with four minutes remaining before going into the halftime locker room down 30-24.
The second half provided more of the same with OSU unable to shake the Tigers. FHSU's Kaiameka Brown hit back-to-back 3-pointers to knot the game at 38 apiece with 11:14 remaining. The Cowgirls answered with four consecutive points and led by five before the Tigers went on a 12-4 run capped by Brown's layup to lead 51-48 with 1:42 to go.
OSU junior Lindsey Keller answered with a 3-pointer 10 seconds later and sophomore Tiffany Bias got a key steal and converted a free throw with a minute left to put the Cowgirls in front for good. After another Keller free throw, Bias converted a layup with five seconds remaining to put the game away.
Keller led the Cowgirls with 14 points and was joined in double figures by Kendra Suttles and Vicky McIntyre. The sophomores each scored 12 points, while Suttles added nine rebounds. Bias finished with eight assists and six steals.
Brown led all scorers with 18 points.
