Cowboys Tied For First At Big 12 Championship

TRINITY, Texas - After a 36-hole opening day, Oklahoma State's men's golf team stands in a tie for first place with Texas A&M at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.
During Friday's morning round, the Cowboys fired a 7-under 281 to trail the Aggies by a shot. OSU made up the stroke with a 284 during the afternoon round to pull even with A&M at 565, 11-under par. Texas is just a shot back of the duo at 566 and alone in third place.
Individually, Texas Tech's Chris Ward fired a 65 during his second round to move up 11 spots into first place at 10-under 134.
For OSU, sophomore Peter Uihlein opened with a 67 to stand in third place before dipping into sixth place at 139 with a 72 during his second round. The Orlando, Fla., native lit up the par-72, 7,425-yard layout during the morning session, with a 5-under 31 on the front side that included birdies at Nos. 1, 2, 4, 6 and 9. After another birdie at the 10th, Uihlein strung together seven-straight pars before his lone bogey of the round at the 18th. During his second round, he added four more birdies, including three on the inward nine to finish at 5-under through two rounds.
Redshirt freshman Sean Einhaus posted a 68 during his second round to jump 19 spots into a tie for seventh place with two other players, including teammate Morgan Hoffmann, at 3-under 141. Einhaus opened with a 73 before carding his career-low round. Beginning play on the back nine, Einhaus made birdies at 10, 12 and 16 to turn at 2-under 34 before adding three more birdies on the front nine en route to his first career sub-70 round.
Hoffmann broke par during both of his rounds to get to his 141 total. The sophomore opened with a 2-under 70 before signing for a 71 during his afternoon round.
Junior Kevin Tway carded rounds of 75 and 73 to stand in a tie for 32nd place at 148, while senior Trent Whitekiller finished the day tied for 41st place at 150 with rounds of 71 and 79.
The Cowboys will begin tomorrow's third round at 9:50 a.m. and will play with Texas A&M and Texas.
