Cowboys Remain In First At Big 12s

TRINITY, Texas - Oklahoma State's men's golf team used a 286 score during its third round on Saturday to move into sole possession of the top spot on the leaderboard heading into the final day at the Big 12 Championship at Whispering Pines Golf Club.
The Cowboys began Saturday's third round tied with Texas A&M before using their 2-under score to stand alone in first place and two shots ahead of Texas. OSU has a 54-hole total of 13-under 851 with Texas at 853. Texas Tech is third at 855 with A&M in fourth and just six shots behind the Cowboys at 857.
Tech's Chris Ward maintained his hold on the top spot individually with a 71 to move to 11-under 205 and two shots ahead of Texas' Bobby Hudson.
Three Cowboys found themselves in the top 10 through 54 holes with Peter Uihlein leading the way. The sophomore posted his second-straight 72 to move up two spots into fourth place at 5-under 211. Uihlein navigated a fairly uneventful 18 holes on Saturday with 16 pars, one birdie and one bogey.
Redshirt freshman Sean Einhaus used a 73 to finish in eighth place at 2-under 214.
Sophomore Morgan Hoffmann came in a stroke behind Einhaus at 215 after posting a 74 during his third round to stand in a tie for ninth place.
Kevin Tway posted the squad's round of the day with a 3-under 69 to move up 18 spots into a tie for 14th place at 217. Tway made the turn at 3-under 33 after taking advantage of both par 5s on the front side, recording an eagle and a birdie. The junior's back nine included three more birdies and resulted in an even-par 36.
Senior Trent Whitekiller posted a 72 and is in a tie for 28th place at 222.
The Cowboys will begin their final round at 8:50 a.m. tomorrow and will be grouped with Texas and Texas Tech.
