OSU Quotes
Head coach Kurt Budke
On the game
“Obviously, it's very tough. The biggest thing right now is that I feel so bad for my girls. They are playing their tails off and they believe in what we're doing and believe in each other and we're just getting better and better every night out. They made one more play than we made. They obviously could be the best team in this league and I think that kind of shows you where we're at right now and where we believe we're at right now. We went toe-to-toe with two great teams this week in Baylor and Texas A&M and we didn't back down one bit. There's nobody giving up, there's nobody quitting, and we'll go down to Texas ready to play on Wednesday.”
On both contests with Texas A&M being decided on the last shot
“It crossed my mind to foul them with 19 seconds to go and that's crazy, but I didn't want to get beat at the buzzer. I knew they had some good players and it really crossed my mind that if the right player touched the ball to foul. They make the free throws, it's alright, we'll come down and score again and we'll go to overtime. (We didn't foul) because it's just too much of a gamble. You always rely on your defense to get one big stop and one big rebound and the right person that we wanted to foul wasn't going to touch the basketball.”
On the crowd support at the end of the game
“I keep telling people that if we start averaging 5,000 people a game, then I don't think anyone will beat us in here. We're getting that close anyway, if you look at our losses in here this year. I'm very proud of our core crowd that comes every time because they're basketball smart and when it's time to get loud, they get loud and they obviously helped us at the end.
“Our players deserve that (crowd support), they deserve the best. They deserve 5,000 people in here every night and I don't think there is one person that came into this gym today that can leave this gym thinking that these girls aren't giving everything they've got for 40 minutes, and that's what I'm so proud about right now. We're further ahead of schedule than I thought we'd be at this point and time. There is no team in this country that is competing any harder than my team right now.”
