Oklahoma State Blows Past Texas-Pan American 24-1

STILLWATER, Okla.? Oklahoma State batted around three times in the first inning and wrapped out 15 hits and scored 15 runs as the Cowboys defeated Texas-Pan American 24-1 in baseball action Tuesday night at Reynolds Stadium.
OSU opened the game with six consecutive hits and five hitters had two hits in the stanza, led by third baseman Josh Fields who had a two-run double and two-run homer. Fields hit for the cycle in the game after he added a single in the third and a triple in the fourth. He finished the day 4-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored. He is the first Cowboy to hit for the cycle since Manny Cervantes did it against Missouri in 1988.
Oklahoma State improved to 24-11 overall while Texas-Pan American fell to 19-22.
The Cowboys added three runs in the third on a three-run homer by centerfielder Jos? Virgil. The Phoenix native finished 3-for-4 with five RBIs.
The Broncs scored a run in the fourth, but the Pokes responded with six runs in their half of the inning, four coming via a grand-slam homer by rightfielder Craig Bartosh, his second homer of the year.
Starter Jimmy Rhodes (2-1) went five innings to pick up his second win of the year and gave up one run on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
The game was called in the seventh due to the 10-run rule.
The Cowboys and Broncs will close out the two-game set tomorrow at 3 p.m. Junior southpaw Justin Ottman is scheduled to get the start on the mound for OSU.
