HUTCHINSON, Kan. Oklahoma State's golf team took advantage of calm conditions on Tuesday at Prairie Dunes Country Club to shoot its lowest round at the Big 12 Championship, a 12-over-par mark of 292, and finish in fifth place.
After windy conditions that saw team scores balloon on Monday, including a 311 and a 309 from the Cowboys, all five OSU players tied or bettered their first-day totals, but were unable to improve their standing on the leaderboard.
Nilsson shot his second consecutive 74 to finish in a tie for second place with a three-round total of 223, 13-over-par. The freshman finished eight shots behind Baylor's Worth Williams, who led the Bears to their first Big 12 team title in addition to earning medalist honors.
Cowboy sophomore J.C. DeLeon picked up his first top-ten finish of the season. The Tulsa native shot a 2-over 72 on Tuesday to wrap up play in a three-way tie for 10th place at 228.
Boyd Summerhays carded OSU's low round of the day, posting a 71 to finish in a three-way deadlock for 23rd place at 23-over-par.
All-American Anders Hultman notched a five-over-par 75 during his final 18 holes to come in at 26-over-par and tied for 33rd place while senior Peter Davidson added a 76 to finish a stroke behind and in a tie for 35th.
The Cowboys will be back in action May 12-13 when they travel to Dornick Hills Country Club in Ardmore, Okla., for The Maxwell.
