Cowgirl Basketball Slips Past Northern Arizona, 64-56

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's women's basketball team kept its home record in tact on Monday night, defeating Northern Arizona 64-56 before 3,421 fans at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The Cowgirls rose to 5-3 and moved their home record to 4-0 on the season, while the Lumberjacks fell to 6-3 on the year.
OSU took an early 6-0 lead before three consecutive three-point baskets gave NAU a 9-8 advantage four minutes into play.
In the half, the two squads battled back and forth, exchanging the lead nine times.
A jumper by the Lumberjacks' Jen Snitker knotted the game for the fourth time at the 4:40 mark before the Cowgirls went on a 6-0 run that included a pair of steals to claim the lead for good.
Terrisha Osborn scored on a putback with 19 seconds remaining in the half to give OSU a four-point edge before Bridjette Wickham answered with a jumper with one tick left on the clock to cut the Cowgirl lead to 34-32 going into the intermission.
OSU turned up the defensive pressure in the second half, holding NAU scoreless until the 13:44 mark. the Cowgirls gave up only four points in the first 11 minutes of the half en route to building a 13-point cushion.
A Nikki Lawrence layup at the 5:26 mark gave OSU a 55-44 lead before the Lumberjacks began to chip away and cut the advantage to four with 27 seconds left.
Tari Cummings and Kara Faulk each knocked down a pair of free throws down the stretch to provide the final outcome.
After going 0-for-4 in the first half, Cummings finished the contest with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Faulk turned in an eight-point, 12-rebound outing.
The Cowgirls will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to take on the Arkansas Lady Razorbacks at 7 p.m.
