No. 23 Cowboys Dominate Fordham Fiasco

BRONX, N.Y. - Oklahoma State's Cowboy cross country team had five of the top eight finishes as it won the Fordham Fiasco Saturday morning at Van Cortlandt Park.
The win gives the Cowboys first place finishes in both of their meets this year. The Cowboys won the Wichita State Gold Classic on Sept. 5.
Senior Jerry Rainey led the Cowboys with a third place finish and a time of 25:58, 58 seconds behind the winner. Chuck Sloan finished with a time of 26:23, good enough for a fourth place finish. Sophomore Bruce Wright finished right on his heels with a time of 26:29 and a fifth place finish.
Redshirt freshman Ben Lake ended the race just seconds behind Wright with a time of 26:33 to finish sixth. Junior Vasquez recorded a time of 26:50 for the Cowboys, earning an eighth place finish in the race.
Also placing in the top 25 in the race for the Cowboys were Staffan Stegmark and Trey Vernon. Stegmark placed 17th with a time of 27:13 and Vernon's time of 27:16 earned him a 20th place finish.
The Cowboys will return home to host the Cowboy Jamboree on Oct. 2 at the OSU Cross Country Course.
