STILLWATER - Jawun Evans scored 16 of his 27 points in the final seven minutes and added nine assists to help Oklahoma State rally and beat Oklahoma, 96-92, on Saturday night in front of a sold-out Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Â
Oklahoma State had three players reach the 20-point mark on Saturday, as Jeffrey Carroll scored 23 points and Phil Forte added 22 for the Cowboys. Forte also leads the nation in free throw percentage and has now hit his last 16 free throws.
Â
OU's Christian James banked in a 3-pointer from the corner to give the Sooners an 80-69 lead midway through the second half, but Oklahoma State rallied, and Evans' layup with 1:08 remaining put the Cowboys up for good.
Rashard Odomes had 29 points and 10 rebounds, and Dante Buford and James each scored 13 points for the Sooners.
Â
The Cowboys have now won eight of their last nine games after starting conference play 0-6.
OSU's 96 points on Saturday marks its most in a non-overtime game since scoring 97 points against the Sooners on February 13, 2010. It was the largest comeback win for OSU in a Bedlam Series game since the Cowboys overcame a 15-point deficit to defeat the Sooners in Stillwater back in 2011.
Â
The win over the Sooners gives OSU their first in-season sweep of Oklahoma since 2004. Brad Underwood is just the fourth OSU coach to ever take both meetings with OU, joining Mr. Henry Iba (13 times), Eddie Sutton (three times) and Paul Hansen (once).Â
Â
The win also gives the Cowboys their second in-season sweep of the year. OSU also took both meetings against TCU this season. The Cowboys will have another sweep opportunity when Texas Tech visits GIA next weekend.
Â
Up Next:
The Cowboys will head to Manhattan, Kansas on Wednesday to face Kansas State. It will be Brad Underwood's first trip back to his alma mater as a head coach. Both teams are in the middle of the Big 12 standings. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. on ESPNU.
