Jeffrey Carroll bounced back after yesterday's game. He led the Cowboys to victory and set a career-high in points with 29. He also had nine rebounds.
Carroll was held under 10 points just five times in the 2016-17 season, but each time he responded with a big performance in his next game. In the games following his single-digit outings Carroll is now averaging 22.8 points on 58.8 percent shooting. He has scored 20-plus points in five of those games.
The Cowboys used their defense to start a 14-4 run in the first half to jump-start their offense and take the lead.
The Cowboys bounced back after shooting poorly at the free throw line yesterday. They shot 84.2 percent and sealed the game with some clutch free throws down the stretch.
The Cowboys have dominated on the offensive boards this season. They outrebounded Pitt on offensive boards, 20-5. They have a +27 offensive rebounding margin in games this year.
Pitt started to cut into the OSU lead in the second half but an 8-0 run ended the threat and helped extend the Cowboy lead.
The Cowboys forced nine turnovers in the first half. They have now forced a total 43 turnovers in first halves in their five games this year.
Thomas Dziagwa was a big lift off the bench for the Cowboys. He came in and knocked down four 3-pointers to finish with 12 points.
Cameron McGriff was key on the boards for the Cowboys. He finished with nine rebounds.
OSU has made at least one 3-pointer in 552 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 13, 2001.
OSU pulled the overall series with Pitt to 5-6. The Cowboys are now 18-23 against ACC schools.
