The Cowboys won by 43 points tonight, the last time they won by more than 40 points was in 2016 when they defeated New Orleans, 117-72.
For the second-straight game, the Cowboys bench was dominant. They outscored ORU's bench 51-11.
Brandon Averette led the Cowboys in scoring and set a career-high in the game with 21 points. His previous high was 17 against Tulsa last year. He also finished with nine assists and two steals.
Averette made three 3-pointers in the first half and finished with four makes from beyond the arc. It passed his personal best of two 3-pointers made last year against Rogers State.
Averette and Mitchell Solomon led the Cowboys in the first half. Averette had 14 points and Solomon had 12 points at halftime.
The Cowboys ended the first half on a 9-0 run to give them a 17-point lead at halftime.
The Cowboys provided stifling defense in the second half. They held ORU to 21 points on 31.3 percent shooting from the floor.
The Cowboys are one of the toughest defensive teams in the first half. In their first three games this year they have forced 28 turnovers and held opponents to 31.1 percent shooting from the field. Â
The Cowboys made 13 3-pointers tonight. They are averaging 10.7 3-pointers made per game this season.
A 20-4 run in the second half helped the Cowboys extend their lead to over 40 points.
The Cowboys had four players finish in double figures. Thomas Dziagwa had 11 points and Zack Dawson had a career-high 11 points.Â
Gallagher-Iba Arena is one of the toughest venues for opponents in the country. Since 1989, the Cowboys are now 207-6 (.967) in non-conference games in GIA.
OSU has now won 12 straight non-conference games dating back to December of 2015.
OSU has made at least one 3-pointer in 550 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 13, 2001.
