UConn Postgame Notes
November 21, 2016 | Cowboy Basketball
- Jawun Evans led the Cowboys with 35Â points and six assists on the night. That gives the sophomore three career 30-point games, and at least five assists in 15 of his 26 career games.
- OSU piled up 18 steals on the night, which is tied for the third most in school history, and just one steal behind the record.
- The Cowboys hit 12 of 20 3-pointers on the night, which is good for a mark of 60 percent - tied for the eighth best night in school history.
- Brad Underwood scored his 93rd career victory in just his 107th game. That .869 win percentage is tops among all active Division I coaches.
- Oklahoma State had reached the 100-point plateau in each of its last three games, and came close against the Huskies. The Cowboys had reached the century mark in three straight games only one other time in program history, in 1993-94. OSU has never scored 100 points in four straight games.
- Cameron McGriff reached double-figures for the first time in his OSU career. The freshman piled up 13 points.
- Phil Forte racked up 18 points, but his free throw streak has come to an end. The senior had made 24 straight dating back to last season.Â
- Jeffrey Carroll continued his hot start to the season with 18 points.
- OSU forced 14 first-half steals, which are the most in school history. That mark broke the previous record of 12 set in 2007-08 against Prairie View A&M.
- The Cowboys have gone with the same starting lineup in each of the last three games: Evans, Forte, Waters, Hammonds and Solomon.
- The Cowboys opened the game up with a 15-0 run capped off by a Jawun Evans 3-pointer with 14:06 left in the first that made the score, 18-3.
- OSU has made at least one three-pointer in 519 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 13, 2001.
- The Cowboys are 4-0 on the young season. OSU has gotten off to a 4-0 start 10 times since 2000-01.
- OSU is now 2-0 all-time against UConn and 2-2 in Maui Invitational play.
