Cowgirl Soccer Top 20 Moments, 1996-2014
August 03, 2015 | Cowgirl Soccer
The Oklahoma State Cowgirl soccer program will mark its 20th season in 2015. As we celebrate two decades of milestones, OSU head coach Colin Carmichael and assistant coach Karen Hancock, who each have been with the program since its inception and served stints as head coaches to help build the program into a national power, collaborated on a list of the top 20 moments in Cowgirl soccer history. Over the next month, we'll reveal their list (which is in no particular order) on www.okstate.com.

Cowgirls finish No. 5 in the final NSCAA national rankings in back-to-back years in 2010-11
Â
Oklahoma State has become a fixture in the national rankings over much of the last decade and peaked during the best two-year span in program history.
Â
The Cowgirls finished in the final NSCAA national rankings in 2006-08, but OSU made history in both 2010 and 2011 as it ended those seasons ranked No. 5 in the final NSCAA polls.
Â
During the 2010 season, OSU maintained a spot in the rankings every week and spent five weeks in the top 10, four of those while in the midst of a 13-game unbeaten streak. Following the Cowgirls' run to the first NCAA Elite Eight in program history, OSU ended the '10 season with a 20-4-2 record and a No. 5 final ranking.
Â
OSU was even more prominent in the national polls in 2011. En route to another Elite Eight appearance, the Cowgirls spent the final 11 weeks of the season in the top five of the polls. During a historic 21-game unbeaten streak, OSU maintained the No. 2 spot in the NSCAA poll for eight-straight weeks (Sept. 13-Nov. 1) and finished the year once again fifth in the final rankings with a 22-2-2 record.
Â
Colin Carmichael: "We wanted to be No. 1 so it's a little bittersweet. But it's still a great achievement. You can look at the traditional powers in our sport and say they've been able to receive that kind of ranking two, three, four, five times in a row. But when you go to ourselves and some of the newer programs, there are not many that can say that. It's just a credit to the group of kids we had and how talented we were."
