Sasa Jackson & Erin Stigler
Cowgirl Soccer Top 20 Moments, 1996-2014
July 28, 2015 | Cowgirl Soccer
The Oklahoma State Cowgirl soccer program will mark its 20th season in 2015. As we celebrate two decades of milestones, OSU head coach Colin Carmichael and assistant coach Karen Hancock, who each have been with the program since its inception and served stints as head coaches to help build the program into a national power, collaborated on a list of the top 20 moments in Cowgirl soccer history. Over the next month, we'll reveal their list (which is in no particular order) on www.okstate.com.

Beating No. 9 Notre Dame in overtime to snap the Irish's 43-game home unbeaten streak in 2007
Â
The 2007 season included several signature wins for Cowgirl soccer (more on that another day), but perhaps the most impressive was OSU's 2-1 overtime victory at Notre Dame.
Â
In the second game of the Inn at St. Mary's Classic, 16th-ranked OSU faced the daunting task of defeating a Fighting Irish team ranked No. 9 nationally that had not lost on its home field since 2003. During that stretch, UND went 41-0-2, with the 43-game unbeaten streak marking the third longest in NCAA history.

Â
In the game's 22nd minute, Siera Strawser blasted a shot past the UND keeper to give the Cowgirls a lead that held until the Irish tied it up off a free kick in the 69th minute.
Â
The match went to overtime still knotted 1-1, but it didn't take long for OSU to pull off the shocker. Just 79 seconds into extra time, Sasa Jackson was on the end of a Kasey Langdon cross that deflected off a UND defender, and the Cowgirls' senior midfielder delivered the golden goal.
Â
Along with Jackson, OSU goalie Erin Stigler played the role of hero as she racked up eight saves. UND outshot the Cowgirls by a 20-6 margin and owned a 7-2 advantage on corner kicks.
Â
Colin Carmichael: "It was Notre Dame's tournament, and on Friday we lost 1-0 to Washington State and Yolanda (Odenyo) got injured. We thought, 'Now we've got Notre Dame on Sunday, it's going to be tough.' We came up with a game plan and moved Yolanda around a little bit to protect her. We played very defensively. Siera Strawser scored a 30-yard bomb to get us going, and Kerri Hanks, Notre Dame's All-American, scored a great free kick to tie it. Erin Stigler made saves that I don't think she could do again if she had to — she'd probably admit that, too! And then in overtime, Kasey Langdon chased down a ball in the corner, and Sasa Jackson made some incredible 80-yard run — she must have been exhausted but she was able to finish it. To upset those guys was a huge deal."
