NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma State dropped its regular season finale Friday night, suffering a 2-1 loss to Bedlam-rival Oklahoma at John Crain Field.

With the loss, Oklahoma State falls to 9-8-2 overall and finishes eighth in the Big 12 Conference standings with a 2-4-2 mark. The Cowgirls open play at the Big 12 Soccer Championship in Kansas City Wednesday against league champion West Virginia at 11:30 a.m.

Friday's contest was a tale of two halves as OSU controlled the match prior to intermission and took a 1-0 lead into the locker room.

Allie Stephenson provided that lead. In the 32^nd minute, OU goalie Kassidie Stade collided with a teammate in the box, leaving Stephenson with an open net opportunity from 15-yards out. The Cowgirl senior buried her attempt for her fifth goal of the season to give the visitors the lead.

OSU outshot the Sooners (10-6-3, 3-2-3) by an 8-4 margin in the opening 45 minutes while also holding a 6-1 edge on corner kicks.

But in the second half, it was OU that controlled the attack, and it paid off when the Sooners netted a pair of goals within a 2:14 span.

The Sooners recorded the equalizer in the 70^th minute when Rasha Roberts collected a cross through the box by Jordyn Knox-Webster and delivered a low shot to the near post for her third goal of the season.

It didn't take long for the home team to go on top when, in the 72^nd minute, Paige Welch headed a Laura Rayfield corner kick through the defense to give OU the 2-1 advantage.

The Sooners outshot OSU by an 11-4 count in the second half and finished the match with a 15-12 edge.

OSU's Michela Ongaro finished with five saves on the night, including a highlight-reel stop of a Rayfield penalty kick in the 58^th minute. The Cowgirl goalie dove to her right, and Rayfield's attempt deflected off Ongaro's feet.
