Cowboys Defeat MTSU, 4-1; Win Fifth Straight
February 15, 2026 | Cowboy Tennis
STILLWATER - Haydar Gokpinar's late match heroics and Oklahoma State men's tennis dominance in singles led to the Cowboys victory over Middle Tennessee on Sunday afternoon at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
OSU extends its winning streak to five matches and improves to 8-2 on the season, while MTSU falls to 7-3. The Cowboys remain undefeated at home, winning every singles match at the GTC en route to a 7-0 home record.
Starting with doubles play, Cowboys' Gokpinar and Nicolas Kobelt handled business on court three against MTSU's Houston Jacques and Antoine Mayoral, 6-1, and after dropping court one, it came down to OSU's Alessio Basile and Ian Bracks on court two. The Cowboys battled back from down 3-5 to force a tiebreaker, but Middle Tennessee's Eric Crivei and Jonasz Dziopak took it, 6-7(5).
Down 1-0, the Cowboys needed a comeback and responded, taking all six first sets in singles play.
Bracks responded to the doubles loss emphatically, getting revenge on Crivei with a straight set victory to tie the match up at one a piece, 6-2, 6-4. The captain, Basile, got the lead for the Pokes, earning his first ranked win of the season over Middle Tennessee's 115th-ranked Ondrej Horak, 6-4, 6-2. Derek Pham won in similar fashion, 6-1, 6-4, over Dziopak.
In a tiebreaker second set, Gokpinar battled to a 7-6(6) win to secure the final point needed to clinch the Cowboy victory. Gokpinar has now clinched the last three matches for the Cowboys and is 8-0 to start his collegiate career.
Charlie Valentine and Kobelt's matches were abandoned following the OSU clinch, 4-1, but both were in positions to win.
The Cowboys round off a three-match homestand next Sunday at 2 p.m. against the Memphis Tigers at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
