Two-time national prep champion Ahmed signs with OSU
April 16, 2025 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER – 6-foot-9 center Ben Ahmed made his Oklahoma State commitment official on Wednesday by signing a National Letter of Intent.
Â
Originally from Nigeria, Ahmed has spent the past three seasons at Putnam Science Academy in northeastern Connecticut, where he won two national prep championships and finished as the program's all-time scoring and rebounding leader.
Â
The consensus four-star recruit is ranked as high as No. 74 in the Class of 2025 by On3.
Â
Head coach Steve Lutz said:
Â
"Ben is a physical, left-handed post player who is coming to us from one of the best prep school programs in the country. He's a hard worker and a relentless rebounder who understands what it takes to prepare, compete and win at the highest levels, having played in three straight national title games. I'm excited to officially welcome him to the Cowboy Basketball family!"
Â
Ahmed was a double-double machine for the Mustangs, collecting more than 1,500 points and 1,000 rebounds in his three seasons.
Â
As a senior, Ahmed averaged 12.3 points and 8.2 rebounds while shooting better than 57% from the field. He was named MVP of the 2025 National Prep Championship following a 20-point performance in the title game.
Â
Ahmed was also a key contributor on Putnam Science's 2023 national championship and 2024 national runner-up squads. In the latter, he set single-season program records for points (654) and rebounds (422).
Â
Ahmed is the third freshman addition to OSU's 2025-26 roster, joining fall signees Mekhi Ragland (Sunrise Christian Academy) and Ryan Crotty (Miller School).
