October 29, 2025 | Cowgirl Basketball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Stailee Heard has been named to the 20-player watch list for the Cheryl Miller Award it was announced today by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
The Cheryl Miller Award, one of five Naismith Starting Five awards, recognizes the best small forward in women's college basketball. The award is in its ninth year and named after the three-time Naismith Player of the Year.
A unanimous All-Big 12 pick entering this year, Heard is coming off a sophomore campaign in which she earned honorable mention All-America status and was a first-team All-Big 12 selection. Additionally, she was named to the USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Year Midseason Watch List.
A native of Sapulpa, Okla., she averaged 16.8 points and 8.2 rebounds over 32 contests last season while leading OSU to a 25-7 mark and an NCAA tournament berth.
This past summer, Heard was invited to participate at the 2025 USA Basketball Women's AmeriCup Team Trials and also played this past spring with teammates Faith Acker, Micah Gray and Jadyn Wooten at USA Basketball 3X Nationals.
Fans can support their favorite player by participating in fan voting starting Friday, Oct. 31. In late January, the watch list will be narrowed to 10 and then trimmed to five in late February. In March, the five finalists will be presented to Miller and the Hall of Fame's selection committees where the winners will be selected.
