Cowboys cruise to Weis-Crockett Invitational title

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's and women's cross country swept the team titles at the Weis-Crockett Invitational Friday at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course, with Cowgirl Maureen Rutoh also taking home the individual win in the women's race.
True freshman Maureen Rutoh led the charge for the Cowgirls, clocking a time of 21:03.3 on her way to her first career cross country victory in the orange and black. Overall, the Cowgirls swept the top ten spots, with Billah Jepkirui, Victoria Lagat, Jinane Mahi and Lauren Ping rounding out the top five Cowgirl scorers.
The OSU women swept the individual and team titles at the Weis-Crockett Invitational for the second straight season, with Ping leading the Cowgirls to victory in 2024. It's also the second straight season the Cowgirls have swept the top five spots on the podium.
On the men's side, former Cowboy All-American Victor Shitsama (unattached) helped pace the Cowboys to a 19-point victory over ORU. Will Conway (third), Denis Kipngetich (fourth), Brian Musau (fifth), Ayden Granados (sixth) and Ian Kemey (eighth) finishing as the five Cowboy scorers on the day.
Postseason action kicks off for the Cowboys and Cowgirls at the Big 12 Cross Country Championships on Oct. 31 in Lawrence, Kan. Musau is the two-time reigning individual champion and the Cowboys have won four of the past five team titles overall.
