STILLWATER – Oklahoma State superstar Taylor Roe added her second weekly award this season as she was named Big 12 Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Eagle Elite Invitational in Boston this past weekend, the conference announced Wednesday.
Roe scorched the field in Boston, cracking the all-time top 5 list in NCAA history in two separate events. She kicked off the meet in the 5,000 Meters, where she dropped the fourth-fastest 5K indoor time in NCAA history with her mark of 15:12.71. In the race, Roe also broke the school record as she lapped every other athlete in the field on her way to a 40-second victory.
The next day, Roe anchored the Cowgirl Distance Medley Relay to another dominant performance as their time of 10:47.20 ranks as the second-fastest time in collegiate history. OSU's DMR finished less than half a second away from breaking the NCAA record in the event.
Roe is just the second Cowgirl to be named Big 12 Athlete of the Week indoors after former Cowgirl national champion Kaela Edwards, who won the award twice during the 2017 season.
As it stands, the 2022 NCAA indoor 3,000 Meter champion currently stands to qualify for the NCAA Championships in in three separate events as she ranks in the top 16 in the 3,000 Meters, 5,000 Meters and the Distance Medley Relay.
