Pairings Announced for 2023 Big 12 Wrestling Championships

IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 Conference released the 10 brackets for the upcoming Big 12 Wrestling Championships on Wednesday. In total, five of the 10 Cowboy wrestlers received first round matchups at the tournament, while five will have byes into the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Oklahoma State's lone top seed Daton Fix (133) will face unseeded Garrett Ricks of Wyoming to begin the tournament. No. 2 seed at 157 pounds, Kaden Gfeller will take on Utah Valley's Tyson Humpherys as he begins his quest for a third individual Big 12 tournament title.
At 197 pounds, Luke Surber will take on Northern Iowa's Noah Glaser, while No. 8 Konner Doucet will have Chris Island of Utah Valley Cal Baptist in their first round matches. Reece Witcraft will enter the tournament as the only unseeded wrestler for Oklahoma State after taking over the starting role at 125 pounds on February 3. His first-round opponent will be No. 8 Elijah Griffin of Cal Baptist.
Carter Young (141), Victor Voinovich (149), Wyatt Sheets (165), Dustin Plott (174) and Travis Wittlake (184) all received first-round byes. Young will await the winner of No. 5 Clay Carlson (SDSU) and Iowa State's Casey Swiderski, while Voinvovich will wrestle either No. 4 Kellyn March (NDSU) or Dylan Martinez (AF) in the quarterfinals.No. 6 seed Wyatt Sheets will have NDSU's Michael Caliendo who is the third seed at 165 pounds or Utah Valley's Cameron Haddock. The returning Big 12 champion at 174 pounds, Dustin Plott will face No. 7 Lance Runyon (UNI) or Gaven Sax (NDSU) in his first match, while No. 3 Travis Wittlake draws the winner of No. 6 Keegan Moore (OU) and Mahonri Rushton (UVU).
