Maxwell Claims First Big 12 Weekly Honors Of 2023

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State softball's Kelly Maxwell has been named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced today.
The reigning Big 12 Co-Pitcher of the Year and unanimous first team All-American picked up in 2023 right where she left off a year ago. This week's conference honor marks the fifth of Maxwell's career.
As the starter in Oklahoma State's season opener versus No. 24/22 Oregon, Maxwell tallied 15 strikeouts en route to a complete game shutout.
Closing out the Cowgirls' opening weekend, she appeared for a scoreless 6.0 innings and struck out eight against RV/RV Ole Miss.
In total, the redshirt senior maintained a 0.00 ERA, totaled 23 strikeouts, and allowed only four hits and two walks in 13.0 innings pitched at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge; she was also named the tournament MVP for her efforts.
Maxwell and the Cowgirls are back in action Thursday as they take on Texas A&M at 9 a.m. CT in the first of five games from the TaxAct Clearwater Invitational, all of which are slated to be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks.
